It's hard to believe that it's already been over a year since we embarked on our mission to transform the way people in Nigeria — and eventually, Africa — connect, crowdfund, and volunteer. From what started as an idea sketched on a piece of paper, inspired by the End SARS movement, to convincing my co-founders Tritima Achigbu and Jerry Chibuokem to join me, I cannot believe the cool product we’re building.
The way we see it, our superpower as Africans is our sense of community. How well we do as a continent, when we move as a united front, has the strength to change the whole world.
But without further ado, let’s get into some milestones and takeaways!
Onboarding over 30 non-profit partners:
It’s super important for us at Crowdr to center our offerings around the needs of our customers and community so we spent the first few months of the journey strictly getting to know them. We held 1-on-1 interviews with our non-profit partners to understand their unique objectives, sent out extensive surveys to individuals on social media, and even approached strangers at coffee shops to hear their thoughts.

We recognized how frequently concerning factors such as trust and security came up. We also noticed that even outside of social groups like church, people do yearn for opportunities to contribute positively to their communities.
Building our dream team:
One of our first and most crucial achievements was building a passionate and diverse team consisting of specialists and generalists. Each member brings a unique skill set and a shared commitment to our vision.
We have also prioritized creating a dynamic environment with perks such as unlimited time off, remote work, transportation stipends and flexible working hours.
Constantly learning and re-learning:
The Crowdr you know — and will get to know in the coming weeks — is only version one out of many. The idea behind Crowdr has evolved from offering a B2B service to building in the needs of individuals into this one product, from serving the Nigerian audience to expanding to other parts of Africa, and we are so excited about how much more the platform will evolve.
In all the stages of our development, one thing has remained constant: our goal — to make it easier for you to fundraise and find volunteering opportunities that make a change in our world.
Finally, in case you missed it, we’re now in our private beta stage! You can test out all of what our blood, sweat, and tears (…literally) created. Get started here. If you’re a non-profit, feel free to schedule some time to test the product via this link. Testing ends on March 8th at 11:59pm WAT.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to every one of you who has been a part of this incredible journey. Your trust, feedback, and support have been the wind beneath our wings.
Thank you for believing in Crowdr.
Sincerely,
Adaobi and Team Crowdr
